[murmur] is a documentary oral history project that records stories and memories told about specific geographic locations. Stories, memories and anecdotes are collected and made accessible people's personal histories and anecdotes about the places in their neighborhoods that are important to them.

[murmur] was first established in Toronto's Kensington Market in 2003 with many other [murmur] projects launched globally between then and 2009.

In the early 2000s there were many projects that enabled the stories of local areas to be retold by the people who lived there. Such projects are sometimes known collectively as Locative Media projects.

If you were going to complete a locative media project what technology might you use?

[murmur] was initially developed with the assistance of the CFC Media Lab, Toronto.
