We are honored to be invited to present a special STEMarts Lab workshop as part of the Summer Physics Camp for Young Women, hosted by Los Alamos National Laboratory and its partners. This two-week camp empowers high school students from Northern New Mexico through hands-on experiments, expert mentorship, and exposure to exciting STEM career paths. We’re thrilled to join this incredible initiative that inspires the next generation of scientists, technologists, and changemakers.
On Friday, June 6, 2025, STEMarts Lab will lead the AI Soundscape Workshop—an immersive, team-based experience that blends sound design, visual storytelling, and ethical AI exploration. Led by AI instructor Cyndi Coon with Bethany Rivera and STEMarts Ambassadors, students will collaborate to create original AI-generated soundscapes and “cover art” for imagined characters using tools like Suno, ChatGPT, and DeepAI. Each team will reflect on their CliftonStrengths to guide their creative contributions and character development. Alongside the tech, we’ll engage in thoughtful conversations around AI ethics, exploring questions of authorship, bias, and cultural representation. It’s a unique opportunity to experience how human creativity and artificial intelligence can work together to tell powerful stories. Students will receive a custom Zine-style Storyboard Workbook to document their soundscape designs, visual prompts, and reflections—and will be invited to sign up for follow-up sessions to create personal projects using the tools they’ve explored.
