- Eligibility: Girls/women identifying individuals between the ages of 14-19 residing in Northern New Mexico
- Deadline to Apply: Revolving year round. Deadline November 15.
- Apprenticeship program period: January 15 to December 15
- Five (5) winners will be selected.
- Winners receive a stipend of $1000 in monthly payments throughout the year.
- Travel stipends and meals will be provided for physical meetings.
- Apprentices qualify for the travel award competition
- Program purpose: Apprentices become part of an international ambassador program as part of the traveling installation called Space Messengers to develop valuable STEAM workforce skills. Through participation in collaborative teams and leadership experiences the apprentices build confidence and self-esteem and improve their intercultural communication skills. Professional new media artists share immersive and interactive art making tools and career pathways as part of trainings and participation in professional STEMarts events.The Space Messengers curriculum develops artistic, scientific and humanistic literacy to expand our identities as planetary citizens. At the end of the year individuals are placed in paid internship or STEMarts opportunities based on completion and skill level.
- Requirements: Stable internet at home for video calls and online work (reach out of you need help with this), Access to transportation to attend in person events throughout the year (parent travel stipends provided as needed), Time to commit to this program (4- 6 hours a month), field trips and festivals, and flexibility to attend out of town festivals and events (see sample agenda)
